History of Champs Elysees
Originally, Champs Elysees was considered as a field and market gardens. In 1616, Marie de Medici decided to enlarge the area with an avenue of trees. In 1724, the street was extended beyond the Place de I’Etoile. In the 18th century, the Champs Elysees became a popular and fashionable avenue which started to attract the people greatly.
Now, Champs Elysees is one of the most famous avenues not just in Paris, but around the world. People from all over the world come to Paris especially to visit Champs Elysees. During Christmas, New Years and other world events, the sightseeing of the place is just incredible.
Champs Elysees is located on the northwest of the Place de la Concorde, which is the largest square in Paris.
