Difference between Gas and Electric Ovens

Electric and gas ovens are used throughout the world and both types of cooking devices have their supporters. Users of gas ovens strongly believe that their stove cooks better than the electric ovens and the food taste is much better when cooked on gas. On the other hands, electric oven users don’t find any difference in food being cooked through electricity or gas. Although both these appliances serve a common purpose, there are some distinctive features which separate them from one another and these attributes might sway your decision of purchasing. You must consider the cost of gas and electricity in your location and any differences of price ranges of the models available in the market.

Gas ovens use natural gas for producing heat inside and cook food. A gas flame is lit at the bottom of the oven which produces ample heat to cook all types of food.

On the other hand, electric ovens use electric current to radiate heat for cooking purposes. Electric elements are present either at the top or the bottom of the oven and electric current causes them to radiate intense heat.

    Gas Oven

Gas ovens have been used for cooking purposes from centuries and their effectiveness is still not denied. In most countries, the prices of natural gas are relatively lower than electricity and this makes gas ovens cheaper to use. There isn’t much difference between the basic models of gas ovens and electric ovens. However, a vital issue with gas ovens is the indoor pollution they cause within your house. The California Air Resources Board conducted a study way back in 2001 which states that gas ovens emit high concentration of particles and gas fumes. No such polluted effects were witnessed for electric ovens. Some cooks are of the view that the heat generated in gas ovens is not uniform and the temperature control is not as precise as in electric ovens.
