However, if you have not been able to find a lamp shade of your choice or you just don’t want to buy it from the market, you can easily build it in your own house.

Things required:

– 10 to15 wire coat hangers
– Tape measure
– Paper
– Pencil
– Pliers
– Fabric
– Hot glue gun

Instructions

  • 1

First of all, you have to make the frame of your lamp shade. Take a wire coat hanger, untwist it and set it straight. Then, you have to determine the diameter of the lamp shade (from the bottom).

  • 2

After determining the diameter, you have to draw circles on some piece of paper. Now, you have to cut the circles and keep the pieces over the lamp in order to take the measurement of the diameter for the bottom of your lamp shade.

  • 3

Repeat the procedure to take the measurement of diameter of the top of your lamp shade. After that, make the templates of both the diameters.

  • 4

With the help of the templates, you have to make two circles with the help of the wire coat hanger which you straightened in the first step. Make sure that you make the circles according to the measurement of the diameters, otherwise you will not be able to make a good lamp shade.

After making the wire coat hanger, you have to attach the circles in an appropriate way. You can use any other wire to connect the two circles.

  • 6

In order to make the cover of your lampshade you just have to cut a piece of fabric which will fit on your frame. You can use fabric of any colour or design according to your choice, but make sure it is of good quality and can be cleaned at any time.

Use hot glue to attach the fabric on the lamp shade frame. Don’t apply too much glue on the lamp shade and let it dry a little bit before attaching it to the frame. After covering the frame with the fabric, you have to hold it tight so that it may stick well.
