How to Clean and Oil Your Sewing Machine

Every sewing machine would require some maintenance work after a certain period of time. You would need to oil and clean the machine in order to get rid of debris, dust and bits of lint. This will not only increase the life of the sewing machine but will also make sewing on the machine much easier. Cleaning and oiling your sewing machine would ensure that it does not jam or create any other problems while sewing.

– Can of compressed air
– Tweezers
– Screwdriver
– Lint brush

    Remove the power cable of the sewing machine for the power source. This is important to ensure that you are working a safe environment with no risk of an electric shock. Furthermore, you would need to remove the machine’s needle and foot by unscrewing them. Make sure that put the needle and foot in a safe place.

    Remove the throat plate. You may have to make use of a screwdriver to unscrew the plate and then raise it with the help of a throat plate lever before you can remove it. Refer to the instructions manual that came with your sewing machine for detailed instruction about removing the throat plate.
