How to Eat Noodles using Chopsticks

In the East, people are taught from childhood to eat with chopsticks. Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese people can easily eat food through these sticks. You can also eat with chopsticks but you have to remember how to hold them after a little practice.

Nowadays, sushi and Chinese noodles are no longer exotic and unfamiliar food. In the life of the Eastern people, sticks are not only used for domestic purposes, this traditional attribute has become their rituals.

However, there are set of rules and etiquettes that must be followed in order to eat through a chopstick.

    Choose bamboo or wooden sticks because they are both comfortable to hold. Wooden sticks are more convenient because there is a minimum probability that they will slip between your fingers. The shape of the rods may be round or square in section. Of course, the latter will be preferable for the beginner.

    Always make sure that your fingers are closer to the middle of the rod and the ends of the device are not crossed.

    Place the bottom of the wand so that the tip of the ring finger is bent, and the end is hollow between the thumb and forefinger. Use your index finger in order that it makes a sandwiched between the tips of the index and middle fingers. It should be remember that the ends of the rods should be parallel to each other. The lower chopstick should always remain at same place so that you can use the upper chopstick up and down.

    Remember, the noodles do not stick to the chopstick. You grab the tips of your cutlery as if nibbling.

    If you are eating noodles along with the broth, grab a special flat spoon with the other hand. Here, you should forget about the western etiquette and feel free to sip the broth along with the noodles. This behaviour is under more practical considerations, because the Asian cuisines noodles served so hot that can burn the mouth.
