Preheat the oven
The first step towards making corn bread is to preheat your oven to 435 degrees F.
Combine the ingredients
Once you have preheated the oven, you can now move towards the ingredients. Take a medium sized bowl and put flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt in it. While you are adding the ingredients in the bowl, you should keep a spoon in one hand and stir the mixture continuously. Once these ingredients are thoroughly mixed, you should now pour in milk, a couple of properly beaten eggs and shortening.
Beat the mixture for one minute
After you have added all the ingredients, you should now beat the mixture for at least 60 seconds and ensure that it has taken a creamy shape.
Pour the mixture in a baking pan and bake
Grab a greased 9-inch square baking pan and pour the mixture in it. You may now put the mixture in the oven and allow it to get baked for about 25 minutes or until the bread has become golden brown.
