How to Make a Spicy Egg Salad Sandwich

If you are hungry and you do want to go out of your warm house, you can always consider the idea of making an egg salad sandwich in just few minutes. It is widely considered that the egg salad sandwiches are the easiest sandwiches to make in the world and you do not have to do much effort for that either.

Since it is very easy to make, you can make it any time of the day and it can be your very own late night snack.  This recipe is for one egg sandwich, and if you have more people to feed, you can easily double, triple, etc. the recipe.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Serving size: 1 person
Utensils: Saucepan, spoon, couple of bowls, fork, knife


– 1 hard-boiled* egg (large), peeled and chopped
– 1-2 Tbsp mayonnaise (to taste)
– 2 Tbsp chopped celery
– 1 Tbsp chopped green onion
– Curry powder (to taste)
– Salt and pepper (to taste)
– 1 leaf of lettuce
– 2 slices dark rye bread, toasted

    In order to boil few eggs, place couple of eggs in a clean saucepan and fill it with water. It would be better if you have at least two inches of water in the pan. If you want to quicken this process, add very little vinegar, say a half tea spoon in the pan and then add some salt to the water. That will prevent the shell of the egg from cracking while boiling.

    Cover the pan and let the water to boil for few minutes. When the water begins to boil, take the pan off the heat and let it cool naturally. Carefully drain the water from the saucepan and add some cold water in order to cool the boiled eggs.

    Take a fork and mash up the boiled egg gently. Then mix the boiled and chopped eggs with mayonnaise and celery and onions. Sprinkle some salt and pepper over the mixture and mix all of it with a spoon.

    Take couple of fresh slices of bread and toast them up. After they are well toasted, put them on a plane surface. Grab lettuce and put a layer of it on one slice of the toasted bread. You can use a butter knife for this purpose. Then take the egg mixture that you prepared earlier and spread it carefully on top of the lettuce. Take the other toasted slice of the bread and put it on the top. Your spicy egg salad sandwich is ready to serve.
