How to Make Popsicles At Home

What can be the most refreshing treat on a hot summer’s day? Many of you might come up with a different answer, but if given a choice, many of you would agree to eat a popsicle, which gives instant relief from heat.

However, no one would like to leave their air conditioned house to buy a popsicle, especially if the temperature is well over 100 degree Fahrenheit. Therefore, the best way is to make it yourself and enjoy the taste of whatever flavour you like the most. People of all age groups will love to have this delightful treat, but children in particular would enjoy it the most.

So, if you are a mother and your children are insisting to go out in the heat to get a popsicle, you don’t need to worry at all. There are a few simple steps, which will help you make this juicy treat at your home. You just need some basic ingredients and utensils, which are mentioned below before the recipe.

Ingredients

– Juice of your choice (see Step 1 or Tips for juice suggestions) – Amount is your discretion, as you are the one who knows how big and how many popsicle there should be

– 1 teaspoon sugar – Optional (1 teaspoon if you plan on filling the entire tray. Reduce amount accordingly)

Instructions

  • 1

    Select your favourite juice

The most important thing is to choose your favourite flavour. If you are making the popsicle for yourself, that will not be a big issue. However, your children might have a different taste and they would not want the same flavour. In that case, you can choose separate juices.

  • 2

    Prepare the juice

If you are using a powdered juice like Tang, it is important to make sure that it is stirred nicely with water.

  • 3

Pour the juice into the popsicle mould

Next thing is to pour the juice into the mould. If you don’t have it, you can use an ice cube tray as well.

  • 4

Cover the mould with a plastic sheet and insert toothpicks

Make sure that the mould or ice cube tray is covered with a plastic sheet tightly and insert the toothpicks, piercing the sheet in each box.

  • 5

Place the tray in a freezer

The final step is to allow the liquid to solidify in the freezer. You can make it at night, so that it will be ready to be served anytime in the day.
