How to Make Valentine Heart Cookies

Heart-shaped cookies are very common on Valentine’s Day as they are easy to make and convey your love. Moreover, you can decorate the heart-shaped cookies in multiple ways in order to make them more attractive for your loved ones. These cookies are just perfect for any kind of get-together on Valentine’s Day and while heart-shaped cookies are also available in the market, making them at home will show your loved ones that you are willing to put in an effort for them.

Ingredients:

-(1 Cup / 2 sticks) unsalted butter
-(2 Cups) sugar
-Two large eggs
-(4 2/3 Cups) of all-purpose flour
-(1-tablespoon) baking soda
-(1/4-Tablespoon) salt
-(1/4 cup) buttermilk
-(1/2 Cup) pale pink or white sanding sugar
-Petal dust in pink, orange, or violet tones

Things Required:

-A heart shaped cookie cutter
-Electric mixer
-Rolling Pin
-Plastic wrap
-Baking sheets

Instructions

    Take a large mixing bowl and place one cup of unsalted butter and 2 cups of sugar in it. Mix both the ingredients with the help of a paddle attachment for almost four minutes until the mixture is nice and fluffy. Now add two large eggs one by one and beat the mixture properly.

    In a separate large mixing bowl, add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Turn on your mixer at slow speed and gradually add the flour-mixture to it. Continue alternating the mixtures until all ingredients mix thoroughly.

    Now form a dough and wrap it properly with a plastic wrap. Put your dough in the refrigerator for almost one hour.

    Meanwhile, colour the sanding sugar by putting in a few tablespoons of it in a small mixing bowl. Add the petal dust and mix it until you get the colour you want for your heart-shaped cookies.

    Take two of the baking sheets and line them properly with parchment paper. Now flour a flat surface and your rolling pin.

    Take the cold dough out of the refrigerator and roll it to around 1/8 of an inch thick. Pick up your sharp heart shaped cookie cutter and cut out the dough with it.

    Place your heart-shape cookies on the baking sheets and cool them in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes. Take out the cookies after 30 minutes and sprinkle some of the sugar sand on them.

    Bake your heart-shaped cookies in a 350 degree preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes or until they are golden brown. Transfer your cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Your yummy heart-shaped cookies are now ready to serve. However, you can decorate your cookies according to the Valentine’s Day theme.
