How to Teach Your Child to Have Empathy

Of all the things parents teach their children, most of them ignore ‘empathy’. It is observed that most of the couples put more emphasis on teaching kids how to do different things including, how to eat, how to sit, how to walk or how to play. It is very important that the parents should understand the need to teach empathy to their kids otherwise they will find it hard to make new friends.

Teaching empathy to kids is not one of the most important things but it also reflects your good parenting. Most of the times children learn what they see, but in some cases, they need to be taught about a particular thing. Children with empathy are those who like to share things with other no matter be it a kid or a young one. They not only share things but also behave in an outstanding way. It can be very difficult to teach kid to have empathy and requires a lot of effort but you should not lose hope. If at any point, you feel tired and helpless, just remember that it is very important for your kid’s future that he/she shows his/her empathy towards other people.

    You should encourage your child upon his stubbornness. Instead, you should encourage him to be kind and gentle with others. If he/she listens to your advice and act accordingly, you should give him a chocolate or something as a prize as this will persuade them to repeat that again. Always tell your kids to respect elders and do not fight with siblings.

    Note that how you interact with the kid has a deep impact on his learning. Therefore, you should be nice to him and express your care by hugging or giving a smile to him.

    You should also consider the option of expressing your love towards the kid through words. Play with him and explain to him what pleases you and what makes you sad, so they should not try to make upset you by doing bad things.

    Do not try to be rude with kids as they might get stubborn. You should be polite while talking to them. They not only feel comfortable with that but this will also help them in doing the same.

    You should tell your children about the importance helping others and as a demonstration; you can involve him in charity.
