How to Use Coconut Oil for Hair and Skin

Millions of people around the world are suffering from rapid hair loss and there are many who struggle to maintain a healthy skin, especially in winters. Most people find it extremely annoying to use separate products on different parts of the body. Coconut oil however, is equally beneficial for both hair and skin. It can not only add a shine to the hair, but also helps repairing damaged hair. The oil can also be extremely effective for dry and damaged skin, playing the role of a moisturiser, alongside preventing wrinkles.

Instructions

  • 1

    Buy coconut oil

Coconut oil packaged by different companies is easily available in grocery shops or drug stores. If your budget does not allow you to purchase branded coconut oil, you can also prepare it at home.

  • 2

Apply the oil on your scalp

Apply the oil directly on your scalp. If you live in an arid region, you should mist your hair with water before applying the oil.

  • 3

    Massage your head

Having applied the oil, you need to rub your scalp with the help of your fingertips. Make sure that the oil has been absorbed till the roots of the hair. You would be able to massage your hair in a more effective manner by making small circles on your head with your fingertips. Move from the front side to the back and then move forward again. You need to massage your head for at least five minutes.

After properly massaging your head, you need to leave it as it is for a minimum of 30 minutes before you take a shower or rinse your hair.
