LG Eclipse May Reach Us In October

Reports have popped up online claiming LG’s new high end smartphone, LG Eclipse, will be released in the US by AT&T. Rumors also indicate the Sprint will be releasing the device around the same time. The LG Eclipse has been expected for quite some time and with the spectacular success of Samsung’ Galaxy SIII, it seems that the Eclipse is not too far off.

The details of the device have been reported by Engadget who claim to have a copy of the User Agent Profile for the LG Eclipse. Engadget has gone a step further and also gotten hold of the Bluetooth 4.0 Certification and benchmarks. The documents give away a lot of details about the new smartphone, including the fact that it is expected to be released in North America on Halloween.

The LG Eclipse seems to have a quad-core Krait APQ8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU. Also the smartphone will have a 768 x 1280 pixel display that is 4.67-inches. In the document, the 320ppi smartphone is referred to as LS970 for the Sprint model and E970 for the AT&T version. Sprint and AT&T are the expected carriers after a review of the AnTuTu, Nenamark2, and GLBench benchmark documents that mention both companies.

The LG Eclipse had started the rumor mill earlier when images of the phone were leaked on line. From that report, it was apparent that LG was going to give Eclipse a 4.67-inch HD display, 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 13-megapixel camera, 16 GB storage, 2 GB RAM and a large 2100 mAh battery. The NFC and removable battery indicated that the device would be powered by Android.

LG will be facing some tough competition from the market leader Samsung. The Galaxy SIII has broken records when it was launched and the upcoming iPhone 5 is already starting to generate some buzz. LG will have to deliver a brilliant product in order to make its place in the high end smartphone market.
