A Red Balloon Dream

Joggling an ice cream cone in one hand
A balloon on a string in the other hand
The little boy clicked both heels together
Ran as fast as he could
To the top of the hill
Then he blew out a shout
“Hey!
Look at me!
Look what I got!
I have a red balloon!”
Then a strong gust
of wind
Came along
And snatched the
Red balloon
From his playful hand
Inflated red material
Tied to a piece of sting
Up above the snowy clouds
Went the red balloon
As free as a bird
Well this little red balloon
Decided to go to the moon
Like the twinkle in your eye
The red balloon dream believed it could fly
Dancing like a ballerina in the air so free
Hanging from a park bench or tied to a tree
Above castles
Above churches
Above cathedrals
Above kings
Nothing like a red balloon dream
In a little boys hand
Just around the corner
Just around the bend
You can find a red balloon dream
In a little boy’s heart
