Reality TV Show Idea: The Internet Task Force

We’ve all seen “Cops” and “America’s Most Wanted” on TV , and both of these are extremely good shows. These particular shows enlighten viewers to the harsh reality of “catching the bad guy”. The reality show I think most people will tune into around the world is the “Internet Task Force”.

We all know that law enforcement, including the FBI, is monitoring internet activity. We always see on exposÃ?©’s how cops and other law enforcement teams pretend to be another child or teen when reeling in a suspect. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to witness first hand how the law enforcement officers profile, intervene, correspond and ultimately take down the bad guys in these elaborate cyber stalking cases?

The Internet Task Force: Circumstantial Ideas

As a blue print of the idea behind this “Reality TV Show Idea: The Internet Task Force” is to bring the explosive situations that cops and special units face everyday into our homes. Below I have mocked two separate incidents to show audiences what kinds of things we could expectâÂ?¦. And then, there are of course those things that no one can ‘predict’.

**Episode I
Open scene-
Internet task force officers sitting in law enforcement head quarters around a computer.
Narrative scene-
“I believe that we have a few individuals that are trying hard to portray they are children and are looking to meet up and ‘hang out’. By the profiling we’ve done we believe that these persons may not be who they are claiming.” Says the first officer who is typing away on his ‘myspace’ account.
“So, we are basically pretending to be someone other than who we are which is the name of the game on these cyber streets. This person will show up expecting a child and if he or she is someone other than who they claimed to be âÂ?¦ for instance, an adultâÂ?¦we will take them down and run any priors that they may have. If they have previous felonies or warrants against them for molestation, rape, child abduction, or any other type of abuse then we’ll be sure that they go to prison for premeditated and malicious act against a minor.” Says another officer in this task force.

“Today gentlemen we have a person that is supposed to be wearing a florescent green tank top, ripped jeans, a lip piercing, eyebrow ring and silver tipped spikes in his hairâÂ?¦ he says he’ll be at the local mall next to Macy’s” The sergeant speaks to his men.

Active scene-
The internet task force suits up, gives instruction and heads out to the harsh streets ready to meet the individual in question. The first wave of undercover cops enter the mall as the uniformed officers wait by the radios in the van. Camera follows secretly as the undercover cops walk in the mall and head for Macy’s.
Once in the front of Macy’s undercover cops become nervous as they see the victim approach in exactly what she said she was going to wear. She did bring a friend along for what seems to be security purposes. Unfortunately, no teenager matching the description of the perpetrator was present only a man waiting in the shadowsâÂ?¦the task force takes him down. Not only does he confess to being the teenager online but also has a record for being a sexual predator.

**Episode II
Opening scene-
The task force is sitting around a computer.
Narrative Scene-
“We have a profile set up portraying that we are a 12 year old girl. It has been 2 weeks and we already have people wanting to meet up. So we are going to the mall next to the Mc Donald’s in the food court to meet up in person, we’re going to find out if they are who they say they are”

Active Scene:
The task force is heading to the mall. A few under cover task force members are heading inside to meet up with the “teen”. When inside the mall they see a man standing next to the Mc Donald’s approaching a couple of young girls asking them if they have ever considered modeling and that they happened to be an agent. The task force watches from a distance. Thankfully the girls decline. However a few minutes later another teenage girl is approached she is alone. This time they have a new story. “Miss, Miss, can you please help me, I’ve lost my dog just outside the mall. It’s my wife’s new puppy she’ll be devastated if I can’t find it.”-Unfortunately, his act is too convincing and the teen falls for it. The task force moves in and cuffs him.

Closing scene- “As it turns outâÂ?¦”
“He had records of rape. He was supposed to be registered as a sex offender, but he failed to do so. We also found out he was hiding under a profile name and alleging to be a teen going to a local high schoolâÂ?¦ Now he is going to prison” A deputy says.

Internet Task Force: A Message Behind the Reality
This will not only make parents aware of the online dangers that face their children everyday, especially with the increasing use of computers, but hopefully will also teach parents to teach their children to be more aware, responsible, and most of all to use common sense with their cyber life.

Because our society is changing the way it is, and most parents seem not to care as long as their children seem happy; it would be a blessing to know that our children are being watched and protected while online. Let’s face it even though some of us pay attention to our children and their online habits they can, and in most cases do, get online at school to use dangerous websites without being monitored at all.
