Volunteering to Save Lives – the Humane Society Needs You

The Humane Society is an organization dedicated to bettering the lives of our furry friends. Although this organization runs like a well-oiled machine, that machine would stop running without the help of the community. Even if you don’t have money to donate, there are still many things you can do to help out your local Humane Society. Volunteers are a huge part of the Humane Society, and being a volunteer is more than just donating your time, it’s helping to save lives.

Volunteering isn’t just rewarding, it’s fun! There are so many jobs for volunteers to choose from, so it’s unlikely that you won’t find one that fits you. Here are some of the many jobs that volunteers perform.

âÂ?¢ Doggy Kennel / Kitty Condo Attendant – This job is for volunteers who love to play. As a Doggy Kennel / Kitty Condo Attendant, you would take the dogs on walks and give them the exercise they need. You would also brush the animals and give them the attention they crave. Animals that are in the Humane Society are often there due to neglect or abandonment, so this gives them the attention that they were denied for so long.
âÂ?¢ Photo Team Member – This job is for volunteers who love photography. If you have a digital camera and are good at taking pictures, this job would be great for you! With this position, you simply take pictures of the dogs and cats at the Humane Society. Then those pictures are posted on numerous websites so that people can find the perfect pet for them, all from the comfort of their own home.
âÂ?¢ Mobile Adoption Matchmaker – This would be perfect for volunteers who like to be “on the go”. Your job as a Mobile Adoption Matchmaker would be to take the animals around to different adoption sites and show them to people who are looking to adopt.
âÂ?¢ Shelter Office Assistant – Of course, it’s not all fun and games. The paperwork has to be tended to as well, and the Shelter Office Assistants are the ones who do it. This job would be perfect for someone who wants to volunteer, but doesn’t necessarily want to deal directly with animals. If you were to volunteer as a Shelter Office Assistant, you would be assisting the Humane Society with filing, mailing, telephones, faxing, and all of the other aspects of a typical office job. However, this job can also be fun, as I’m sure you’ll be working with some wonderful people.

The Humane Society has changed so many lives. Without their services, there would be so many homeless, starving cats and dogs on the streets. Your local Humane Society needs help, and you can be the one to help them. Contact your local Humane Society today and ask them how to become a volunteer. Not only will you be doing a good deed for your community, but you’ll be saving the lives of innocent cats and dogs that were abandoned by their owners. If you’re lucky, you just might find the perfect pet for yourself.
