How to Bathe Like Cleopatra

Among the most celebrated queens of Egypt, Cleopatra was as renowned for her beauty as she was admired for her skill as a ruler and administrator. Notorious for having been dazzlingly beautiful and for having had a string of flings, many women today seek to recreate and recapture the spirit Cleopatra possessed. While no accurate portraits remain to tell us what exactly the Queen of Egypt looked like, accounts of her radiant skin remain, as does the method which she used to achieve her glowing complexion – a milk bath.

While this might seem like a luxurious and costly method to achieve a radiant complexion, the ingredients for a milk bath are probably present in your pantry, and drawing yourself a milk bath is incredibly simple, not to mention extremely soothing and nourishing for the skin. So instead of spending a small fortune at a spa, simply give yourself the treatment at home, and enjoy the after-effects.

Things Required:

– Small bowl
– Wooden spoon
– 2 cups milk powder
– 1/2 cup cornstarch
– 1/2 cup honey
– 5 drops sandalwood essence
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 square of cheesecloth
– String
– Rose petals (optional)

Spread the cheesecloth out on to a flat surface. Scoop up the mixture you just prepared with a spoon, and place it in the centre of the cheesecloth.

  • 3

Bring all fours corners of the cloth together in the centre, and tie them together with string, to form a small parcel.

Once the parcel is made, run yourself a hot bath. Hold the parcel underneath the stream of hot water, and allow the water to seep in through the cloth, and run down in to the tub.

  • 5

After the bath is ready, squeeze the cheesecloth parcel to drain out any of the remaining mixture in to the bath water. Swirl the bath water around, to distribute the mixture evenly throughout the tub. Sprinkle some rose petals over the water for an added exotic effect.

Slip in to the tub, and bathe and soak for at least 20 minutes, to allow the ingredients in the mixture time to absorb in to your skin. This bath is highly effective, and will benefit both sensitive and dry skin.
