How to Groom a Samoyed Dog

People love keeping dogs as pets because of their loyalty and numerous other benefits. However, keeping a dog at home doesn’t mean that you have to leave the poor creature on its own. You have to groom it, so that it looks cleaner and more attractive.

Although there is a huge variety of dog breeds found in different parts of the world, one of the most beautiful kinds is the Samoyed or the Sammy. It usually comes in white coats and is an adorable pet to have at home. Moreover, you don’t need to waste much time on grooming it, as it doesn’t have any dog odour.

Things Required:

– A good quality slicker brush (large)
– Nail clippers
– Stainless steel comb
– Blow dryer
– Trimming shears
– Mild shampoo

Instructions

  • 1

    Start with brushing

Normally, people prefer giving a bath to their dogs before doing anything else, but the situation with your Sammy is different. You have to brush it instead, in order to make the hair smooth and clean it properly. Since the hair of Samoyed dogs is quite long, you have to use a proper technique to brush it. Divide the hair into segments and then start brushing. Furthermore, brush the tail of your pet too, but be gentle on that area.

    Bathe your dog

Although you don’t have to give a regular bath to Samoyed dogs, it is ideal to do so every once in a couple of weeks. Make sure you use a good shampoo, which doesn’t cause any damage to the skin of your pet.

    Blow dry

After the bath, blow dry the hair of your dog. While the hair dries, you have to continue combing, so that the fur remains smooth. Allow the head of your dog to dry naturally.

  • 4

    Trim the nails

Soon after you have given a bath to your Sammy, you should trim its nails, so that they don’t break from the edges. Remember not to cut them too short though.

    Groom the feet

There will be a lot of hair on the feet of your Samoyed dog, so you have to groom that area too. When you have given a bath to your pet, trim some of the hair from its feet and then comb it properly.
