Prepare the potatoes
Gather all the potatoes in one plate and wash them properly first. Once all of the dirt is removed, peel their skin carefully. Some people like to make the fries with the skin, but that depends on you. However, most of the times, fries are made without the skin, so it is ideal to get rid of it. Now, allow the potatoes to dry and then slice them with the help of a knife.
Add cooking oil into the pan
Place a dry pan on the stove and fill it 1/3 with cooking oil. Keep the flame medium and allow the oil to heat up nicely before preparing the fries.
Fry the potatoes
Place the potatoes inside the oil and allow them to fry for some time. When they get golden brown, remove them from the pan and place them in a plate.
Prepare cheese mixture
Mix cornstarch and water in a cup and once they settle in, place the cup aside. Now, bring milk and margarine to a boil until they form a thick mixture. Continue stirring and add the cornstarch-water combination into the milk-margarine mixture. Simmer on low heat and add the cheese as well. Keep simmering until the cheese melts and settles in nicely.

Pour chili and cheese sauce over the fries
Pour the chili and cheese sauce over the fries and serve them hot.
