How to Make Relaxing Iced Tea

Tea is a popular beverage well loved in all corners of the world. In summers, tea consumption gets a setback since it is a hot drink. Tea drinkers have therefore come up with variations like iced tea which satisfies their craving without feeling hot. Iced tea is a very refreshing drink, especially when the mercury is high. It is a great healthy alternative to canned soda drinks which are high on  empty calories. Iced tea is available in different flavors; lemon and peach being the most popular. Iced tea sachets are commercially available at grocery stores. However, making your own iced tea at home gives you the luxury of choosing the ingredients yourself and customize the drink.  Make iced tea in your favorite fruit flavor and feel relaxed on a warm day. Ingredients:
– 8-cup jug or pitcher
– Pot or kettle
– 8 cups water
– 6 tea bags
– Sugar to taste (optional)
– Lemon slices (optional)
– Ice cubes (optional)

    Boil the 8 cups of water in a kettle or saucepan. Remove the saucepan from the stove and pour the water into a pot. Steep in the six tea bags into the hot water. You can also use a loose tea blend. Let the tea bags remain in the tea for a couple of minutes. If you want stronger tea, let them remain for long or use more tea bags.

    After you remove the tea bag, add the sugar. This of course depends on how sweet your tea to be. It is better to add sugar when the tea is hot so that the temperature helps in dissolving it. Now cut the lemon wedges and add them to the tea. Lemon has great refreshing properties which relaxes your body. Stir the lemon slices inside the tea to mix in the taste. If you do not want to add the lemon, you can also use peach slices. Peach is another delicious fruit which makes great iced tea.

    Now leave the tea for half an hour so that it cools down well. Now add the ice cubes. Ice cubes give the drink the cool you desire. Now transfer the tea to the serving pot. If you want to serve the tea later, you can refrigerate it for now. Serve with lemon wedges as garnish.
