Choose a viable location
It is of utmost importance that you choose a viable location for setting up a remotely operated ham radio. Keep in mind that if your chosen location is crowded with too many radio waves, it would be difficult for your ham radio to work properly. While choosing the location, you should choose a place that is free from radio waves and allow you to install the antenna properly. A ham radio will not work without a properly working antenna; therefore, you must make sure that the performance of your ham radio is not interrupted by other things. It should be kept in mind that the site for installing antenna is secured and no harm would be done to the antenna.
Set up your antenna
After you have chosen the place, you should take the necessary stuff to set up your antenna. You must take the radio, power supply, log books, snacks and other necessary things to the place of your choice. To install all these things, most people prefer the use of foldable tables.
Without power supply, your antenna will not be able to function. In order to supply power to ham radio, you can take help of the batteries. In this regard, most people use car batteries while some prefer using small sized generators or solar systems.
Now is the time to install your antenna. First you should decide whether you want to install a wireless antenna or a wired antenna. For the proper functioning, you must installed insulators at the end of your antenna and do not forget to prominent wires or any other thing that someone could mistakenly step over.
Test the functioning of antenna
After everything is in its place, you must test the ham radio to see its compatibility with the installed antenna.
