    Dear Alasdair,

I am writing this letter to request an illness leave for medical reasons. I have been suffering from Dengue fever since last night and the doctor has suggested one-week complete bed rest.

Given all this, I will not be able to attend office from October 19th, 2009 to October 26th, 2009. I can provide you with doctor’s prescription and medical reports, if necessary, and will try my best to make up for the lost time once I return to work.

Thank you so very much for your kind consideration.

    Yours truly,

    Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to request a 3-day leave on account of illness. There is severe inflammation in my tonsils and I am unable to speak or eat without pain. Therefore, the doctor has advised an operation to remove the tonsils, and I will need to take time off from work for it.

I would like to take a week long leave, from November 23th, 2010 to November 29th, 2010. I know there is a lot of work which I need to do, but I will try my best to make up for it when I return.

Looking ahead for your kind response.

    Yours sincerely,
