It was Khalil Gibran who said, “Art is a step from what is obvious and well-known toward what is arcane and concealed”. Dubai, a multi-cultural city emphasizing on art and culture, seems to firmly believe that. A testimony of that is the Dubai Art Fair, a leading art exhibition in the MENASA (Middle East/North Africa/South Asia).
The success of Dubai Art Fair becomes evident from the statistical data of 2012. It hosted 75 international museum groups and an equal number of galleries from 35 countries that were visited by 22,500 visitors.
The exhibition takes place in different localities of Dubai each year to cater to different target markets and has the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai and the director is Savita Apte who is a reputed art historian.
