Total time: 5 min
Yield: 1 serving
Utensils: Glass, blender, spoons, straws, cutting knife

Ingredients:
Low fat milk, fruit juice, yogurt, or water: 1/2 to 1 cup
Ice cubes (the more ice, the thicker): 3-6
Bran cereal: 1/2 cup
Bran: 2 tbsp
Microwaved oatmeal: 3/4 cup
Any fruit you wish, and as much as you want (and can fit).
Chocolate or vanilla whey powder: 1 tablespoon
Ground flax: 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  • 1

The first step is to pour 1/2 cup to 1 cup of low fat milk, yogurt and fruit juice into the blender.

  • 2

Now add three to six ice cubes for a cold and thick smoothie. Remember the more ice you use the thicker your smoothie will be.

  • 3

Now you need to add some fibre in your drink for which you need 1/2 cup of bran cereal, 2 tablespoon bran, or 3/4 cup of microwaved oatmeal.

  • 4

Your smoothie will be incomplete without fresh fruits, so wash some berries, bananas or pineapples and add them in the blender.

  • 5

Now, to make your power smoothie really strong, add a tablespoon of chocolate or vanilla whey powder.

  • 6

This drink is already nutritious, but for more nutrients, you can add a tablespoon of ground flax.

  • 7

Once you have everything in the blender, it is time to close the lid and turn the blender on.

  • 8

Keep blending for about 30 seconds to a minute for everything to mash up.

  • 9

If the smoothie is not thick enough you can add some ice or fruit and blend a little more.

  • 10

Now stop and dip a spoon to see if your smoothie is really smooth. There shouldn’t be solid pieces of anything in the blender.

  • 11

Once it is blended just the way you like it, pour it in a glass and enjoy this nutritious power fruit smoothie.
