Start with removing the wire from the negative terminal of your truck’s battery. This is to avoid any chances of electric shocks you might suffer.
Now begin the actual task of removing the broken handle and you have to take out the window handle first. Use a window handle remover to take it out carefully and do not damage the spring clip in the process.
If there is a power window switch, you have to remove it as well. A flat-blade screwdriver can be used to pry the switch and electric connector off the door panel.
You will require removing all the screws attached to the armrest and the upholstered door panel connecting the truck door.
Now remove the interior door panel by removing the plastic retaining clips with the help of a screw driver.
Also set aside the plastic water shield and the actuator rod from the exterior door handle. Now just remove the two nuts connecting the door handle and you can take out the handle to replace it with a new one.
Take the new handle and affix it into its position by tightening the two nuts connecting the door.
Connect the actuator rod to the inboard side of the exterior of the door handle like it was before. Slide it into the hole and reinsert the retaining plastic clips which you have removed.
Reinstall the power window switch temporarily to check out whether the door handle works perfectly or not. You have to make necessary adjustments if it doesn’t work.
Now repeat the processes in reverse order and keep installing the accessories with bolts and screws like they were before.
