How to Treat Split Ends With an Avocado Treatment

Split ends are a tell-tale sign of hair that is severely dry and damaged, and can be caused by anything from a failure to keep hair healthy and hydrated, to the over-use of thermal products such as hair straighteners, blow dryers, and curling irons.

Luckily, there are a variety of natural ingredients that can be used to treat and repair hair, one of which is avocado. Packed full of nutrients and vitamins, avocados are an ideal treatment for split ends, and the mixture takes little to no effort to prepare.

Things Required:

– 2 or more avocados
– 2 tablespoons of olive or almond oil
– 1 egg yolk
– A small bowl
– A fork
– Spray bottle
– Shower cap

Instructions

  • 1

Begin by preparing the treatment. Slice two or more avocados in half, and remove the pits – either scoop them out with a spoon, or wedge a knife into them, give it a twist, and pull them out.

Then, use a spoon to scoop out the avocado flesh, and put it in a bowl. Use a fork to mash it up (if you want a very smooth paste, toss the avocado into a blender), add in the egg yolk and olive or almond oil, and mix it all together until it is thoroughly combined.

Now, fill the spray bottle with lukewarm water, and use this to spray your hair. This will make your hair damp, making it easier for you to distribute the treatment evenly through your locks. Then scoop up some of the avocado mixture with your hands, and start smoothing it evenly through your hair. Apply it generously on the ends, and in order to prevent future split ends, make sure you massage it into your scalp, to nourish it thoroughly.

Once all your hair is coated in the avocado treatment, put on a shower cap, and leave it on for around 20 to 30 minutes. This will give your hair ample time to soak up the nourishment the avocados have to offer. After this time period has elapsed, take off the cap ad step into the shower.

Use warm water to rinse the mixture out of your hair, and follow this up with a regular shampoo and conditioner. Repeat this treatment regularly, once or twice every week for a month, and your hair will become noticeably smooth, healthy, and split-end free.
