How to Use a Facial Mask

One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to liven up your skin and enhance your overall look is by applying a facial mask. There are a number of over-the-counter facial masks available, and you can shop around to find the one that suits your skin type. You can also prepare an all natural face mask at home, using some commonly used kitchen items that you already have at hand, such as yogurt, honey, egg whites, etc. While there is no rocket science involved in using a face mask, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind to make sure you get the best results.

Things Required:

– Your DIY face mask / product
– Brush / Applicator
– Wash Cloth
– Cotton pads
– Cucumber / Potato

Instructions

  • 1

The most important thing to do when starting a project is to gather the supplies, and the same goes for the application of a facial mask. Keep all the things that you will need (a wide brush, cotton pads, wash cloth etc) close by.

  • 2

Cut two very thin slices of cucumber and put them in the refrigerator to cool. You will use these slices to soothe your eyes.

  • 3

Start by cleansing your face thoroughly.

  • 4

After having cleansed the face, exfoliate your skin if necessary. Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, allowing the skin to fully absorb all the nutrients in the mask.

  • 5

Now steam your face for a couple of minutes. This will open your skin pores, helping the mask absorb better. If you don’t have a steamer, dip a clean wash cloth in hot water and after wringing out excess water, cover your face with it until it cools off.

  • 6

Now your face is ready for mask application. Take a wide brush and apply the mask with it onto the face. Be careful to avoid your eyes and lips. If you don’t have a mask applicator or brush, apply the mask with your hands, making sure they are clean and dry.

After thoroughly applying the mask, place cold cucumber slices on your eyes and relax until the mask dries off or until the time advised by the manufacturer has elapsed.

  • 8

Then wipe off the mask with wet cotton pads.

  • 9

After removing the mask with cotton pads, wash your face with cold water. It not only helps close opened pores but also improves blood circulation in the skin.

  • 10

In the end apply a toner and a moisturizer to finish off.
