How to Use Home Remedies for Dull Hair

Hair becomes dry and dull when it lost moisturizer and lacks natural oil. Various factors like sunlight exposure, pollution, chlorinated water, hair dye, overuse of the blow dryer or curling iron, hair perms, too much shampooing and other extreme weather conditions or changes are the root causes of dull and lifeless hair. No doubt avoiding these factors is nearly impossible as we have to face them in any case during the normal day to day activities. But, we can take care of our hair to nourish and overcome dryness issues. You can find hundreds of commercial hair products for dull hair. However, they are expensive and contain harsh chemicals as well. Then isn’t it better to try some of the useful home remedies for dull hair that are not only cost-effective but very useful as well. They contain natural ingredients and therefore don’t have any side effects.

    Mayonnaise

    Until yet you have been using mayonnaise for eating purposes, but you might not know that it helps in overcoming the hair dryness. It is a bit smelly, but its results are quite impressive. It moisturizes your hair and adds a nice shine.

    How to Apply: Pour some mayonnaise into your palm and spread it over both palms until it melts and is oily. Now, run both of your hands through your hair for a few minutes. Leave for another few minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Now wash your hair with the shampoo and conditioner.

    Beer

    Beer is one among the best home remedies for dull hair. It contains protein that nicely fills all the possible spaces that are lagging between the broken scratched cuticles of your hair. As a result, you hair becomes healthy and shinier with the passage of time.

    How to Apply: Cup one of your hands and pour some beer into it. Now dip the fingertips of the other hand into it and apply it to your hair –from root to bottom. Continue applying until all your hair is dampen.  Leave it for just two minutes and then rinse off with cold or tap water.

    Apple-cider vinegar

    The acidic nature of the apple-cider vinegar in your kitchen’s cabinet helps in doing away with all the traces or residues of the chemical hair products, without causing additional damage.

    How to Apply: Prior to taking shower, dip your fingertips into some apple-cider vinegar and apply it to your hair. Start applying form roots and end at the tips. Let it sit on your scalp for 3 minutes and then rinse with cold water. Top it with hair conditioner and wash off.

    Baking Soda

    If you have baking soda in hand, then use it to treat your dull hair. It is another useful remedy to remove all chemical products’ build-up and impurities from your hair.

    How to Apply: In a medium mixing bowl, blend ¼ cup of water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda until it form a smooth watery paste. Lightly wet your hair with plain water and then apply the baking soda paste to your hair roots, using finger tips. Run a wide tooth comb through your hair few times to spread the paste thoroughly. Leave it for 3 to 5 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. Now wash your hair in a normal way.

    Eggs

    Eggs are power-house of eleven nutrients and are therefore very nourishing home remedy for dull hair. It not only removes the buildups from your hair, but adds nice shine as well.

    How to Apply: Crack one  egg into a bowl and beat it with a fork or whisk until watery and foamy. Apply it the roots of your hair and leave for at least half an hour or an hour. Now rinse off with tepid water.

    Another option is that, blend three eggs and 2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil in a bowl until leathery. Pour in 1 teaspoon of vinegar and mix well. Apply it to your scalp and leave for at least 30 minutes. Wash off with tap water and then wash with a shampoo and conditioner.

    Coconut oil and Avocado

    Pure coconut oil along with avocado paste makes a super remedy for dull hair. This mixture restores the lost shine, removes flaking and protects your hair from the harmful ultra violet rays.

    How to Apply: In a mixing bowl, blend together 1 finely mashed avocado paste and 1 tablespoon of pure coconut oil until merged well. Now place the bowl in microwave oven and heat for 10 seconds. Now apply this coconut-avocado paste from roots to tips of your hair and massage in gentle circular motion for five minutes. Let it sit on your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. Now shampoo and wash your hair as usual.

    Honey

    Honey is one of the natural and pure hair moisturizers. It restores the moisturizer of your hair and adds a nice shine.

    How to Apply: Stir one teaspoon of pure honey and four cups of warm water. Continue stirring until the honey dissolves completely. Now shampoo your hair in a normal way and apply the honey solution to your hair. No don’t rinse your hair and dry your hair as usual.

    Secondly, mix up two finely mashed bananas and 2 teaspoons of pure honey until it forms rich hair paste. Apply it to dry hair and leave for half an hour or until dry well. Rinse off with lukewarm water and then shampoo your hair.

    Aloe Vera Gel & Curd

    Last not the least, Aloe Vera Gel and curd paste is another effective remedy for dull hair.  If removes the dead hair cells and improves the luster of your hair.

    How to Apply: Mix together equal amount of Aloe Vera Gel and curd until it forms a paste. Apply it to all you hair and leave for 30 minutes, before rinsing off with cool water.
