– Lighter fluid or Kerosene oil
– Wood

Instructions

  • 1

    Decide the Phrase

Generally HELP itself should be good enough. You can write a small phrase if you think it to be insufficient. Make it meaningful and the purpose easily understandable.

  • 2

    Find a Suitable Place

You want to find a place that is not near anything that can catch fire such as smaller plants and trees. Also you want to use a space that does not have trees or other objects obstructing the view. The clearer view the place has to offer, the better chances are there that you will get help.

  • 3

    Collect Wood

You will need to collect wood to light the fire. It is best that you get smaller sticks to start the fire. Be certain that the moisture level on these sticks is low as otherwise they will be hard to set on fire. If you are on a beach, you can dig the sand as per the shape of the alphabets and place the sticks in the shallow trenches.

  • 4

    Douse Wood

Once the wood is in place, you will need to douse it with a liquid that can help it to burn. Kerosene oil is indeed the best option if it is available with you. Otherwise you can use other flammable liquids as well.

  • 5

    Light Fire

After assembling everything, light the fire. Match sticks or a lighter should be enough for this purpose. With kerosene oil on top, there should not be much trouble for the fire to start.

  • 6

    Keep it Going

Make sure that you keep the fire going until you gain someone’s attention. You will need to add more wood periodically. Use of flammable liquid every now and again will also be helpful in this matter.
