Tower Millennium Pier London

The Tower Millennium Pier came into existence in 2000 as part of the Millennium commission Thames 2000 project. The quay derives part of its name from the Millenium commision and the other half from its proximity to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. It was one of five new piers that were added to the River Thames and meant for tourist and commuter travel. Currently the quay offers passenger boat service from Embankment to Woolwich and there is also a tourist cruise that operates from Westminster to Greenwich. Interestingly, the pier also gives access to private-charter operators who run several different types of sight seeing and pleasure services. In 2011, the pier received an upgrade and was extended up stream to make room for more boats.
