Don’t fret and fume. Say for example you get laid off. The company you worked for is going belly up and letting it’s employees go one by one. Yeah, that’s stressful. Maybe you’ve worked there faithfully for thirteen years. Oh yeah, that’s really stressful, especially being that you have a family to support, right? Right. Your stressed. Now there’s two things you can do. You can fret and fume about how bad it is and how hard it’s going to be, or, you can learn to adjust to this change and figure out a new beginning. Fretting and fuming is not going to do anything to improve the situation. In fact, when people fret and fume they feel MORE stressed than people who try to use logic and problem solve.

Learn to relax. Relaxing is an art. Preforming this art can do wonders for your stress level. Take time to relax. Make time to relax. Sit or lay somewhere where it is quiet. Keep the lights down, or light some scented candles. Slowly let every muscle loose in your body, from your toes to the top of your head. Feel the tension easing away. Clear all of the thoughts from your mind. Push them away and just be still. Listen to the silence.

Take a hot bath, or a steamy shower. Wash all those stressors away. Inhale the steam. Take in the sweet scents of your favorite, soothing body wash. Feel the hot water run over your flesh. Feel your muscles relax. Let your spirit be at ease for just a few moments. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel when you are finished. This one makes a wonderful end of the day ritual.

Learn to accept the things you cannot change, and to change the things that are changeable. Lets face it. Some things just cannot be undone. They cannot be changed no matter how badly you want them to be. We have to learn to live with that. However, there are several things that can be changed. Think about the things that make you feel stress. Examine them. Why do you feel the stress because of this thing? What is the source, the cause? If the source of your stress is something that can be changed then simply change it. If it cannot be changed then stop stressing and learn to live with it the best that you can.
