Elephant and Castle is located in the Borough of Southwark and acts as a major crossroad in central London. The area has a long history and was famous for shopping and entertainment. It was so popular that residents started calling it “the Piccadilly of South London.” The Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre is a reminder of this time of optimism. The centre was opened in 1965 and was the first covered shopping center in Europe. Today, the center has a good mix of retail, office and leisure venues. The management of the building states that they have close to 100% occupancy for their 135,000 square feet of retail space. Furthermore, 90,000 square feet of offices and 90,000 square feet of leisure facilities are also filled up.

    From Monday to Saturday, it is open from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm, while it is open from 11 am to 5 on on Sundays.

    There are several bus stops near the mall but the closest one is Elephant & Castle (Stop V)‎ and route numbers 12, 68, 148, 171, 176, 468, N68, N89, N155 & N171 reache the stop.
