How to Make a Brandy Sour Cocktail

The Brandy Sour cocktail is among the most refreshing mixed alcoholic drinks containing Cypriot brandy, Cypriot lemon squash, bitters and lemonade or soda. Known to have been invented in Cyprus in 1930, this amazing cocktail was a favorite drink of King Farouk of Egypt. The young king used to spend much of his time at the Forest Park Hotel in the area of Troodos Mountain, the biggest mountain range of Cyprus. Although a Muslim, but he was greatly inspired by the Western cocktails. Therefore, the management of the hotel tried their best to replace the iced tea with a cocktail. They came up with a yellowish delicious drink, known as Brandy Sour Cocktail. The drink soon spread throughout the world and was declared as the national drink of Cyprus.

Utensils: Tall Cocktail Glass, stirrer or spoon
Ingredients;
– (2 measures) Cypriot brandy
– (1 measure) Cypriot lemon squash
– (2 to 4 drops) bitters
– Soda or lemonade for topping
– Ice cubes or crushed ice
– Cherry and lemon or lime wedge for garnishing – optional

Instructions

    Take any of your favorite tall cocktail glass and fill half of it with ice cubes or crushed ice.

    Now add 2 to 4 drops of bitters to the ice cubes.

    Pour 2 measures of Cypriot brandy and 1 measure of Cypriot lemon squash into the cocktail glass.

    Take a long stirrer or spoon and stir the drink for a few seconds until all ingredients mix well.

    Your favorite Brandy Sour Cocktail is almost ready. Now you have two options for topping the drink. If you want a stronger final addition, then top the drink with soda water. On the other hand, if you like a slightly sweeter flavor, then pour in lemonade.

    Place a fresh cherry at the top of the drink and garnish it with a lime or lemon wedge. Serve immediately.
