How to Make a Cigarette Case From a Book

There are a number of things which can be converted into cigarette cases like an old book or other suitable household items. You may have plenty of books at home which no one has read for a very long time. Such books can be used for this purpose. The task of making a cigarette case from a book is very easy and does not take too much time.

Things Required:

– Old book
– Exacto knife
– Ruler
– Clear plastic sheet
– White glue
– Small, disposable container
– Paintbrush
– Small, flat magnet
– Small, thin piece of metal

Instructions

  • 1

Determine which book you would want to use for making the cigarette case. Choose a book that no one in your home uses anymore. It can either be hardback or paperback. Furthermore, the size of the book you choose should be big enough to easily accommodate your pack of cigarettes.

  • 2

Place the book on a flat surface such as a wooden table and open it flat. Use a ruler to mark the dimensions of the holder in the book. Use your cigarette pack as a reference.

  • 3

Use an Exacto knife to cut along the outlines that you marked in the earlier step. Do not try to cut out more than two or three pages in one go. Continue slowly until a rectangular hole deep enough to hold your cigarette pack that has been created in the book. Use a ruler or a straightedge in order to cut the pages along a straight line. Be careful while handling the knife as you do not want to cut your fingers.

  • 4

At the place where you plan to keep the opening of the cigarette case, slip a piece of clear plastic sheet. It would be ideal if you keep the opening about 10 to 20 pages into the book, counting from either end.

  • 5

Apply a thin, uniform layer of glue from a small container such as a plastic bottle onto the page edges. Avoid using too much glue because the idea is only to make the pages stick together. Place a heavy weight on the book and allow enough time for the glue to dry completely and then remove the piece of plastic sheet.

  • 6

Once again, open the book and place it on a flat surface. Apply a uniform layer of glue on the inside walls of the hole you created earlier. Wait for the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

  • 7

Complete the cigarette case by attaching a small, flat magnet inside the book on one of the side. Exactly opposite to the spot where you attached the magnet, attach a piece of metal strip. This will keep the cigarette case closed until you open it yourself.
