Open your “Start” menu and write “Recovery Manager” in the search field. You will now see the Recovery Manager appearing in the search results. Click on it and you will see a new window appearing on the screen.
You will now see different categories appearing in the recovery window. Under the "I need help immediately" category, you will find “System Recovery” option. Click on it, and you will see a Microsoft Restore window opening on your screen. Here, you need to click “No”, and then the “Next” button.
You will now be allowed to back up your important files to an external hard drive or USB flash drive. To back up your data, select "Back up your files first (recommended)" and click “Next”. You will now be asked to connect your external hard drive with your computer, and select the files and folders that you want to include in your back up.
Once you are done with selecting the files for back up, click “Next” and all the selected files and folders will be exported to the external hard drive. Once the data is copied, you can remove your external hard drive from your computer.
If you find it a bit difficult to back up your data using HP Recovery Manager, then you can also back up your data manually, by just opening your hard drive from My Computer and copy all the required files and folders to the external hard drive.
After you are done with backing up your data, click the “Next” button, to start the recovery process. The HP Recovery Manager will now restore your computer to factory settings. Once the recovery process is completed, restart the computer.
