How to Visit the Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museum is one of the major tourists destinations from people all across the world, especially the Catholic Christian community. The Vatican City State is located within the historic city of Rome, comprising a huge collection of historical artifacts and artworks from some of the greatest artists in the world.     You can either book a tour online, or go to the museum and join the guided tours as they happen. A booking beforehand provides you the luxury of skipping a queue, joining the tour without any delay. Please note down that the guided tours take place during daytime from Monday to Saturday, along with the exception of the last Sunday of the year, which is also on.

    You'll have to stand and wait in a long queue for your turn if you don't have a booking. Once you're past that, you'll have to head left from the entrance joining the tour taking place, moving on with the group.

    The Sistine Chapel is one of the prime attractions located in the Vatican, which itself is major tourist destination for travellers all around the world. It takes roughly about an hour to reach the fascinating destination in the guided tour. The Chapel is the official residence of the Pope of Catholic Christian community, being deemed as of great importance by the followers of that faith. It's located in the Museo Pio-Clementino, within the premises of the Vatican. The chapel's ceiling exhibits some of the greatest works by Italian artist, Michelangelo. It took the great artist more than five years to complete his work of the nine central stories from the 'Book of Genesis'. It includes the creation of Adam, his banishment from the Garden of Eden and the Great Flood.

    The Vatican's Picture Gallery is another fascinating site to visit. The gallery is filled with works from some of the finest Italian artists in the history of the country. The exhibition includes works of various artists including Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Raphael and Fra Angelico. The gallery is a must visit for people who are fan of artwork, especially the one linked with great Italian artists.

    The Raphael Rooms, also known as the Raphael Stanze are four rooms which were the former apartments of Julius II. The walls of these rooms are decorated with works from the great painter, Raphael and the members of his school.

    Visiting the Vatican Museum requires you to follow certain rules and regulations. The museum's administration doesn't allow any pictures or videos to be taken inside the premises. Moreover, be careful not to talk loudly during the tour, otherwise, you would end up being hushed by the guards around to keep it down.
