Decorate Your Car with Homemade Magnets

Go to any printer supply place and you’ll find magnetic sheeting which is great for all types of crafts. The magnet sheet slides through your printer, just like paper, and allows you to use your printing program to make all sorts of cool things.

Car art is a way to express yourself via your vehicle. People have let their vehicles speak for them for many years, by way of magnetic signs that give a business name and phone number, but now you can use the magnetic sections for more than just advertising.

Just had a new baby? Print out “It’s A Boy” or “It’s A Girl” banners to place on the sides of your vehicle. Print out a giant baby rattle, baby buggy, or an “ABC” block. There are lots of other images you can use, too, like a pair of booties, a baby bonnet, a baby lamb or even a baby cartoon character.

Who isn’t into sports these days? Print out magnetic footballs, softballs, or soccer balls to show your support for your child’s school team or a major ball team. You can even print out a banner that has the team’s name printed on it. Remember to flip the image over, if you’re using a print program, so that the words won’t be backwards when you print them onto the magnet.

No longer do you have to pay someone to make those advertising signs to put on the side of your vehicle, either. With your home printer and printable magnetic sheet you can make the sign any shape you want, like a heart shape or circular shape, and save a fortune over what you’d pay to have custom signs made. The signs can advertise your local business or your dotcom.

Show your support for our troops by printing out any number of patriotic designs including flags, ribbons and simple red, white and blue shapes. Support breast cancer by printing out their ribbon that symbolizes the continuous search for a cure.

You can even change the entire appearance of your vehicle by using magnetic sheets. Simply print out a pattern of stripes in gold, red, silver, or another color. Cut the magnetic stripes into equal-size strips and put them around the center perimeter of the vehicle, around windows, or elsewhere.

Print out magnets of your favorite cartoon characters, personalities, animals, or other images. It’s a good idea to treat the magnets with a clear-coat spray that will help protect the picture from the elements.

There’s no end to the possibilities when it comes to decorating your car with magnets. They’re easy to make and the design choices are infinite.

You can make the designs for your car as elaborate or as simplistic as you wish. Do an entire Indian Village scene, or just make a simple tepee. Use the entire sheet to make a large image, like a wolf, or put several sheets together to complete a large scene.

More and more people are using car art to express themselves and you can too. Visit a computer supply store to get the magnets and go online to find free pics you can use for printing. Or, draw your own art and then print it out onto the magnet.
