First of all, you have to install a good recording software in your computer. You can use your built-in recording programme, but it is recommended to use professional software so that you may be able to get good quality voice. You can also use smart phone apps like Voice memos and iTalk to record your voice. Even though, you can use an old tape recorder too for voice recording, however, for that you need some tools for file conversion.

You should buy a professional microphone to record your voice. After getting the microphone, you have to find a quiet place to sit along with your computer. Make sure that you put blankets or foam pads on the wall so as to get rid of any kind of echo which can cause distortion.

After completing, just press ‘Stop’ button. Then, click on ‘File’ and then ‘Save’ in order to save the file in MP3 format. You can keep the MP3 file of your audio book anywhere you want. If you like to keep it in your iPod, you must convert it to ‘AAC’ format. In order to convert the MP3 file to AAC, you have to open your iTunes and then import the file to your library. Then, right-click on the file and select ‘Create AAC Version’ (the conversion will take a little time to complete, depending on the file size).
