Ideas for Simple Wedding Decorations

Weddings are something to be excited about. Taking on the burden of decorating for your beautiful day can be stressful. Do-it-yourself projects can be intimidating, especially when you are a novice. However, if you are interested in putting together some simple wedding decorations, then keep reading. You will find several ideas that will make for a memorable wedding. Simple wedding d©cor does not have to mean plain. Simple can be exquisite.

We’ve all heard the phrase “Less is more.” Depending on when and where you will have your wedding, there are many different options for the “less is more” concept. With this approach, we’ll think of your colors and incorporate them in simple ways to give you unique and beautiful arrangements on your tables, and throughout the reception hall.

One of the latest fads, and an extremely easy one, is to use straight glass vases. You can get these at any craft store for under $7.00 each. You can really play up these vases in a variety of ways, and they make excellent centerpieces. Here are some ideas:

Get Creative With Flowers

> Place tulips so that the stems wrap around the inside of the vase instead of standing on end. You can use bright tulips in the spring or deep purples in the fall. Go with one, or all, of your colors.
> Place a single Gerbera Daisy or three standing on end. Use brightly colored Gerberas for the ultimate spring wedding.
> Float just the tops of a flower in water, or even just the petals.

Get Fruity

> Mix it up a little by choosing any combination of fruit and/or nuts and alternating them in the vases. Apples and pears, lemons and limes, plums and figs or walnuts (still in shell). Choose fruit rich in color.
> Place cranberries in water at different stages of the freezing process so that they seemingly “float” in the vase.
> Use the previous idea of frozen water and freeze Holly Berries still on their twigs.

Tie It Up

> Wrap a thick ribbon tightly around the outside of the vase half way or to the top. Next take another thinner ribbon and crisscross them in front of one another until you get to the top of the thicker ribbon. Either tie in a bow or tuck in.

More Ideas

Another idea for simple wedding decoration is to place tea light candles and rose petals on the floor and/or tables. These are automatic staples of romance. Another staple is chocolate covered strawberries. Play with this, and place fondue sets on the tables with fresh fruit to dip in chocolate. You can rent these at many wedding equipment rental facilities. Or you can buy these fairly cheap and give them away to your party as gifts. There are also chocolate fountains that you can rent.

Use Light

You can use beautiful garden lights either outside or inside. Dress them up by tying a beautiful bow around the base. Another simple thing that adds a lot of beauty is to take organza, or another sheer fabric, and drape it over doorways like you would a swag over a window. Add small Christmas lights, and voila! Use white Christmas lights, or get creative. If your color is pink, use pink lights!

There are so many ideas for simple wedding decorations; all you need is an open mind and the willingness to experiment. You will be amazed at the beauty of simplicity.
