Apology Email to Friend

There are times when a person consciously or unconsciously ends up doing something wrong or hurting a friend’s feelings. If a person becomes guilty of such an act, it becomes his moral obligation to apologise to that friend. If a person lacks the confidence or guts to face the friend and apologise to him personally, he can send them an email instead, which is both a quick and convenient way of getting the message across.

While writing an apology email to a friend, you should express your regret in the first paragraph.

In the second paragraph, explain to your friend why you did whatever it was that you did to hurt their feelings. There is no need to hide any details.

In the final paragraph, emphasise on your guilt again and assure your friend that you will do whatever you can to make amends.

    Dear Nathan,

I am so sorry for shouting you the other day. I feel so stupid now that I have returned to my senses and thought about what I did yesterday. I wish I had kept my temper in control and not over-reacted to your jokes.

I have been feeling a bit short-tempered lately. You are aware of the financial crisis that my family is going through. Things have gone from bad to worse in recent days, as my eldest brother has gotten fired from his job as well. You can very well imagine the amount of stress I and my entire family are under.

This is precisely the reason why I lost my temper when you joked about my torn jacket. I have not been thinking straight lately and begun to indulge in a feeling of inferiority complex. I know it is all paranoia on my part and that you would never mock me for being poor.

I am so sorry for misunderstanding your jokes and reacting so strongly to them. You do know that I consider you as my best friend. To err is human and to forgive divine. Therefore, be the big man here and give me a chance to make amends.

    Yours sincerely,

    Lee

    Dear [Name],

I admit what I did yesterday at the party was wrong and therefore I am really sorry. I am feeling really ashamed of myself.

We are all humans and make mistakes at times. Yesterday, I misunderstood what you said about me and Jenny. I thought you were trying to imply that I am just using her, which is not true I have known you for 10 years and I know you would never even think, let alone say, such a thing about me or my girlfriend. I guess alcohol got the better.

I am really sorry for doubting and misunderstanding you. Every time I needed a friend in the past, I could always count on you. You are indeed an invaluable friend, one that I want to hold on to forever.

    Yours sincerely,
