Prepare the lawn
First of all, prepare the lawn before you are looking to water it. The grass should be nicely cut with a lawn mower and it should be constant throughout the lawn. The area should be level otherwise the water can create puddles and literally damage your lawn as too much water can be harmful for the grass.
Set the sprinklers
You should set a proper way to water the lawn. You can use a hose or a sprinkler system to water your lawn. If using a sprinkler system, determine the position of each sprinkler to make sure water reaches everywhere in the lawn. Be sure to set the timer of the sprinkler system to turn on early in the morning and shut off after about an hour depending on the size of your lawn.
Water early in the morning
The best time to water the lawn is early in the morning. Water your lawn at about 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning so that the water soaks into the ground before the sun comes out. You want your lawn to get just the right amount of water for it to properly hydrate the grass.
Avoid watering in the afternoon and evening
Watering the lawn in the afternoon is the worst time and it can be damaging for the grass. A lot of water will evaporate when the sun is at its peak. On the other hand, watering the lawn in the evening is also not good as too much water will remain as it cannot evaporate. This can cause fungus and other diseases to the grass.
