Braided Bun Hairstyle for Long & Short Hair

Braids and buns are classic hairstyling elements for women – simple to make and easy to manage. However, you don’t necessarily have to stick with the old tried and tested styles. There is always room for new ideas, and today we will show you exactly how you can create a braided bun, an amazing looking style that gives you the best of both.

You can even add another twist to this hairstyle by using colored hair extensions to create your braid, which you can then form into a multi-colored bun.

Ideally you should have long hair for this style to work, but you can use hair extensions for short-medium length hair. Moreover, before you start with any style, make sure you wash your hair, condition them and remove any tangles.

Things Required:

– Bobby pins
– Hair extensions (for short-medium length hair)
– Hair accessories – optional

Instructions

  • 1

    Create sections

Having washed, conditioned and untangled your hair, comb them straight down and create three equal sections - left, center and right - labeling them 1, 2 and 3 for reference.

If you have short hair, you will need to use hair extensions (like explained in this guide) to create long flowing sections as shown in the picture.

    Start braiding

Now take section 1 and sub divide it into three strands of equal size for braiding. Label these three sub strands A, B and C for reference.

Keep strand-A on the left, strand-B in the middle and strand-C on the right. Now take strand-A and cross it over strand-B. Then take strand-C and cross it over strand-A. Repeat this pattern until you reach the end of your hair. Now Secure your first braid with a colorless elastic hair band.
