How to Remove Candle Wax From a Cotton Cloth

Most candles drip wax as they are burnt. If you are moving a candle and it is not placed in a candle holder then its wax may drop off at your clothes and spoil them. Your favorite shirt or clothing can go waste if you don’t know how to get rid off the candle wax that has spilled on the clothes. The best part is that you can easily do away with the candle wax on your clothes and the task would be done in just a few minutes. You will require an iron and two paper towels for this purpose.

Instructions

  • 1

Set your iron between medium to high heat. If you have an iron that displays settings with respect to fabric types then choose setting for cotton or cotton blend clothes.

  • 2

Lay out the cloth out on a hard or flat surface and scratch the wax with the help of a dull butter knife. Take extreme caution to remove any wax still caught inside the fabric. Remain cautious so that you don’t damage the cloth.

Next, spread a paper towel and now spread the wax-affected area of the cloth over the paper towel. Grab another paper towel and place it over the wax stain. Hence, the paper towel is placed between two pieces of paper towel. Now start rubbing or gently wiping the iron over the paper towels so that the wax begins to melt. The stain may be completely removed when you are done. If any waxy residue is still left then you may follow the next step (step 5).
