How to Switch from Brunette to Black Hair

Are you looking to dye your brunette hair black but don’t know how to do it at home? Don’t worry it is a simple process following which you can easily dye your hair at home in almost half an hour. Are you afraid of the damage the dyes can cause to your hair? No worries, going darker usually is not damaging. All that you need to do is use a semi-permanent colour. Such dyes are good to use because they will in time fade out rather than creating a line of segregation at the roots. Also they are easy to remove, especially if you are dying your black. Permanent black colour is the hardest to remove.

Before actually dying your hair, use modern technology to see what would you look like with the new hair colour. You can do this using Adobe Photoshop. Upload a photo of yourself and select your hair with the help of a lasso tool. Now change the colour from brunette to black. If it suits your complexion and face cut then go to the market and buy either a permanent or semi-permanent black dye and apply it to your hair following the package’s directions.

Things Required:

– One or more boxes of semi-permanent black hair dye
– Hair clips
– Old clothes or a smock
– Colour conditioners
– Plastic cap
– Plastic gloves

Instructions

  • 1

Prepare yourself by wearing old clothes that you don’t mind damaging. Wear plastic gloves otherwise, the dye will leave colour on your fingers and nails.

  • 2

Brush your hair properly and keep them knot free when applying a semi-permanent dye to them.

  • 3

Separate your hair into four equal sections and clip each section off with a hair clip. Apply the dye by squeezing on to the first section and evenly distribute it using the tips of your fingers. Start from the roots.

  • 4

Cover each section completely with the dye and pile on top of your head. To prevent the dye from drying out, cover your hair by wearing a plastic cap. Leave in the hair dye for the amount of time mentioned in the directions.

  • 5

Rinse your hair properly under running water in the sink.

  • 6

Once you are done with the hair dye, use a mixture of good quality colour conditioners for soft and lush hair.
