Be strong mentally
Sucking at workouts has more to do with the mental aspect of things. For many people, the pains attached with workouts are just too much and they would normally give in after a few days or at maximum weeks of going through the process. This attitude needs adjustment, before anybody or anything can motivate you to lose some flab.
Have your plan sorted out
Fitness is something which can only be attained in small steps and for that you need to have a comprehensive plan, broken down to days and even hours. The goals should be well defined within that plan, and if for some reason a person cannot follow the routine for a given span, there should be plan B as well. If you fail to follow that even, know that you are going in the wrong direction.
Sort out your diet
Taking a healthy diet and eliminating bad eating habits is one of the essential factors in making your workout routine successful. It does not call for slashing all the carbohydrates and fats from your intake, but a balanced mix of all the nutrients. Remember excess of everything is always bad.
