Skin is among the greatest gifts of nature for us. It protects our internal organs from direct exposure to the environment and gives shape to our body. A good complexion is even more of a blessing.

There are, however, many factors that can both damage our skin and complexion as one must be aware of them. By avoiding these factors, we can have a healthy skin and a great complexion for a long period of time. All we need to do is to eliminate these factors from your life and stay healthy.

    Too Much Sun

    Sun provides us with Vitamin D but too much exposure to it can be bad for our skin. It will ruin your complexion in no time and if you stay in the summer sun for too long, you are likely going to get sun burns. It is best that the exposure to the sun is kept to a minimum particularly during summer and one should apply sunscreen with SPF to avoid skin related issues during this period.

    Dehydration

    Dehydration can cause all kinds of problems for skin. These include wrinkles in particular. Getting dehydrated is easy if you are not having enough water. The issue is further pushed if you are drinking tea or coffee as both are diuretics and will remove water from your body. Drink at least eight glasses of water everyday under normal circumstances and it is best that you drink more than that as it will help in keeping your skin healthy in particular.

    Avoid Sodas

    Sodas are not good for health in general and also take their toll on the skin. They are associated with giving rise to blood sugar and a heightened blood sugar level is proven to be bad for skin as well. Avoid sodas and other sugary drinks and instead give water a try. The more you drink, the healthier you get.

    Avoid Processed Meat

    It is not unusual for us to grab a sandwich from a local bakery and munch it down quickly during our lunch break. Similarly, we have all kinds of processed meats at home which are easy to cook and are delicious to eat. However, research has shown that these are bad for health in general and are a cause of wrinkling in the skin. More research is being done for finding out the causes behind it but it is for certain that they have adverse effects on the skin.
